A lot goes on before a charger ever hits the wall. We start by running new wire through the wall cavity - flexible metal conduit threaded through framing, properly secured, connector fittings seated tight. It's the kind of work that's hidden once everything is finished, but it's exactly what determines whether an install holds up long-term or causes headaches down the road.

Once the wire is pulled and the circuit is set, the outlet box goes in. Clean cutout, box mounted flush, conductors properly dressed and seated before the charger unit ever comes near it. No shortcuts at the connection points - that's where bad installs fail.

The panel tells its own story too. This Square D panel had some wiring that needed careful navigation to land the new circuit correctly. Adding a dedicated circuit for an EV charger isn't just about finding an open breaker slot - it's about understanding what's already in the panel and making sure the new load integrates safely with everything else.

The finished product is a Tesla Wall Connector mounted clean and level on the garage wall. No exposed wire, no surface conduit running across the wall, no signs that anything was cut open to get there. Just a charger that looks like it was always supposed to be there - because we planned the route that way from the start.

That's what a proper EV charger installation looks like. The whole point is that when it's done right, there's nothing to notice except the charger itself.
